Lake Glenville, North Carolina
Along her banks, wooden docks reach out into the water where boats wait to explore rocky coves, islands, and waterfalls. Looking down, mountain estates perch on steep slopes, each representing the fulfillment of someone’s dreams.
The Shore
This view of the South Channel form Greycliff shows an exposed shoreline. At the end of each summer season, the water level in Lake Glenville, a reservoir, is lowered, lengthening the shore and exposing the sandy lake bottom. For many of the reservoirs in the area, this means that all the rotting tree trunks left over from the initial creation of the lake are exposed – but that is not true for Lake Glenville. The Army Corp of Engineers saw fit to remove all the stumps from the entire shoreline, creating a safer and more ascetic shore for Lake Glenville during the winter months.
Our Mountain
From on the water in the South Channel, you can see our mountain. The peak at the left is the highest point on Greycliff (Lot 9). Channel View Rd follows the swayed-back ridgeline, ending at Cloud Vista Trail, at the right of the photograph, where you can just make out a home, Greycliff’s closest neighbor.
South Channel Cove
Tall pines cast long shadows as the mid-morning sun trickles through the trees along the shores of Lake Glenville.
Fishing on Lake Glenville
Fishermen wait for a bite near a group of islands at the north end of Lake Glenville. The lake bottom plunges as steeply as the mountains that meet the shore, and just a short distance from the water’s edge, your depth sounder may register 80ft or more.
Misty Morning
A pontoon boat waits on the shore on a misty morning as the lake stretches northward into the distance like a wide river meandering through the mountains.
Lakeside Cottages
Each time you return to the Greycliff docks after day on Lake Glenville, you will pass by these rustic lake cottages nestled on the shore of the North Channel.
Fuel Dock
This marina on the eastern shore has the only fuel dock on Lake Glenville. This is where you’ll go to make sure the tank on your boat is topped off.
Waterfalls
A number of waterfalls spill out of the mountains, feeding Lake Glenville. Here are a few:
Millcreek Falls
Visible from Greycliff, Millcreek Falls spills gently into Lake Glenville making, as it falls, a most soothing sound, a sound audible from many of the Greycliff lots facing the South Channel.
Norton Falls
At the end of a Lake Channel, Norton Falls erupts out of the forest with foaming white water.
Thunder Falls
At the southernmost point of Lake Glenville, you’ll find Thunder Falls. Contrary to its name, here the water cascades gently down rolling rocks, sending ripples through the tiny cove below.
Waterfall
A waterfall on the east bank of Lake Glenville sends a sheet of water sliding down stair-stepped rocks.

Lake Access
We have reserved a plot of land on the north lake channel. It will provides lake access for all Greycliff residents. It will host a Lake Pavilion; and private boat slips wait for those who want to take full advantage of the mountain lake lifestyle.
